Why oh why am I in Sydney when THIS is on in Brisbane this weekend?! As much as I truly love my new home in Balmain, Sydney and my fantastic new job at Ad Creators, there are some things that will always tug at my heart strings and a combined Talulah, Isla and Stevie May sample sale is certainly one of them. With up to 80% off these incredible designer labels please go shop your heart out in my honour (and feel free to pick up something for me while you’re there!). I’ll have my trusty wing woman (my sister, Debbie) at the sale to be scouting the best buys so track her down, say hi and fight her for the many items she’ll have no doubt picked up.

To hook you in even further, I recently had the pleasure of asking Talulah designer Toni Damegilo, who has come to the brand from Miu Miu in Italy, a few questions about the brand and her move.

How did you find the transition from the Italian fashion industry to the Australian fashion industry?

While the processes in designing are much the same between Australia and Italy, there are always going to be differences between how different countries and companies work. My move from Italy back to Australia was no different. Obviously a massive company such as Prada/Miu Miu have bigger teams, but the essentials are the same.

I absolutely loved working for Mrs Prada in Italy and stayed for such a long time there soaking it all in and developing my skills. I feel grateful to have had that opportunity, and I do find myself applying some of the European approaches to fashion in my role here at Talulah. Elements such as drapery and detailing I’m using a lot in upcoming seasons. The pieces are beautiful and I can’t wait for them to drop. We’ve had fantastic feedback from buyers already so I’m thrilled.
What inspired the colour palate and prints in this collection?
The colour palette is a really interesting part of what we do here. As we’re selling across both hemispheres we not only need to look at current trends and brand direction, but also at colour palettes and prints that will work across both hemispheres.
For this collection, Sierra we are working with a fresh colour palette. There are a lot of cooler colours and prints in feminine silhouettes. We have some fantastic prints this season too – I can see the Talulah customer wearing the modern linear Loving You print. I think it’s going to be a favourite.

Now for the important deets:

The sale is ONE DAY ONLY on Saturday 30th January 9am – 4pm (I’d get in early – stuff this great wont last long!)

The sale will be held at CLOUDLAND – 641 Ann St, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane
