What you need to reinvent a chic work wardrobe

After a gloriously sunny (actually probably too sunny) long weekend in Brisbane, finding the motivation to start off a new working week can be…difficult…to put it lightly. So just as we like to convince ourselves we will be more likely to workout if we splash a few $$$ in Lorna Jane, so too I say a reinvention of your work wardrobe can be  just the thing you need to get you through the beautiful summer days you have to spend in the office.

DSD_5428The key to a chic work wardrobe is to be unique while still maintaining professionalism and appropriateness. While Elle Woods certainly looked lovely in Legally Blonde, I’m sure you’d like to look just as good yet be taken a little more seriously. A chic work wardrobe should be built from a few key staple pieces that have an edge to them.

When choosing work shirts it’s so easy to fall into the habit of picking button down business shirts and maybe every now and then splashing out and choosing a pinstriped one – but that doesn’t have to be the case. A monochrome peplum top screams professional chic. Don’t be afraid to accessorize either, add a scarf or chunky necklace to change it up and keep it interesting.

DSD_5510For too long have work skirts been plain black boring knee length pieces that don’t really flatter anybody. Instead, pick a skirt with a bit of personality! They are just as professional and appropriate yet don’t make you look like a librarian. I love the lace hem on this one; it’s classic, feminine and adds a bit of intrigue to the outfit.

DSD_5426The Iconic has an incredible range of work wear that you can shop right from your desk – and have delivered the next day free of charge! And just because I love you all, use the code COMF15NV for 15% off all full priced items until the end of November (you don’t have to just use it on work wear either – treat yourself :P)
